MapleStory AfterShock Patch Notes

10 03 2011

Hello again maplers!  This will be the last post before the arrival of MapleStory Aftershock!  Unfortunately, this post will also be bland and picture-less. ):  I’m not going to go through too much information, as I already explained a lot of it in:

Ultimate Explorer

  • All Cygnus Knight characters that have reached level 120, advanced to “Chief Knight”, and completed the Empress’ Grace Quest will be allowed to create a Level 50 Ultimate Explorer character.
  • You will only be allowed to create one Ultimate Explorer, no more chances will be given even if the Ultimate Explorer is deleted.
  • Dual Blades cannot be chosen as an Ultimate Explorer.
  • An extra character slot will not be given, so there must be on empty slot for the Ultimate Explorer to be created.
  • The Ultimate Explorer character will have the same skin color as the respective Cygnus Knight character.
  • Ultimate Explorers have a maximum level of 200.
  • Ultimate Explorers will receive Empress’ Might skill, an Empress’ fine set of clothing, and a Successor Medal.
  • Empress’s Might: [Max Level: 1] Allows the character to equip items that have a level requirement up through ten levels higher than the character, if the character meets the other stat requirements.
  • Empress’s Fine Set: Includes a hat, a robe, gloves, shoes, and a weapon. Talk to Empress Cygnus upon reaching Lv.70 to upgrade to the Empress’s Brilliant Set.
  • Successor: HP.MP +200 / ATT, Magic ATT+2 / Speed, Jump+10. This medal includes the name of your Cygnus Knight. For example, if Cygnus Knight Mihile created an Ultimate Explorer, that Ultimate Explorer would receive a medal named Mihile’s Successor.
  • Ultimate Explorer characters will receive a Cygnus Knight Skill that corresponds to their job.  These skills are Mihile’s Soul Driver (Warriors), Oz’s Flame Gear (Magicians), Irena’s Wind Piercing (Bowmen), Eckhart’s Vampire (Thieves), and Hawkeye’s Shark Wave (Pirates).  These skills gain a level for every ten times you level up.  The max level of these skills are 5.

Cygnus Knight Update

  • Cygnus Knights will receive new skills.
  • Empress’s Blessing: [Max Level: 24] Your other characters in the same world receive a buff based on the level of a Cygnus Knight you have in that world. For every 5 levels your Cygnus Knight gains, the skill levels up and gives an additional +1 to ATT, Magic ATT, ACC, and Avoidability. This skill does not stack with Blessing of the Fairy. You will receive a buff from whichever skill is the highest level.
  • Empress’s Shout: [Master Level: 1] HP/MP permanently increase by 20% when this skill is obtained. It is received upon completion of the quest Empress’s Grace, which is available to Lv.120 Cygnus who have made the advancement to Chief Knight.
  • Empress’s Prayer: [Master Level: 1] An active buff the increases ATT and Magic ATT for two hours. It also enables a Cygnus Knight using it to hit monsters that are considerably higher in level than they are. The buff does not disappear when a character dies, and it cannot be canceled by monster skills. It requires 24 hours of play time to recharge. It is received upon completion of the quest Empress’s Grace, which is available to Lv.120 Cygnus who have made the advancement to Chief Knight.

Explorer Update

  • Explorers can now receive the Empress’ Might skill and a corresponding Cygnus Knight skill, as explained above, by advancing through 3rd job normally.
  • The quest for Empress’ Might will be sent by your 1st job instructor.
  • The quest for your corresponding Cygnus Knight skill will be sent by a corresponding Chief Knight on Ereve Island.
  • The quest for the Cygnus Knight skill can be repeated every ten levels to level up the skill.
  • Drop rates for items used in the quests are very low.

  • Players will contribute and help accumulate guild experience.
  • The GP obtained by each guild member is counted toward the level of contribution for that guild member.

4 – Displays the guild level, accumulated GP, the total number of guild members, and the guild ranking.
5 – Displays the guild member ranking based on the guild contribution level.

A lot of new feature will be included in this huge patch.  Elemental staves/wands will regain their elemental reduction/bonuses, but at a more reduced rate than pre-big bang.  A new map system has been updated as well, allowing you to have a more detailed search on maps and monsters inhabiting it.  Zakum, Scarlion, Targa, and Horntail have more open channels now.  The Evolving Ring 2 Event will be reopened.  You will receive a new blank ring and cannot level up the previous one.  There is no information on if the second and first evolving rings will be stackable…but I highly doubt they will since Resistance, Lilin, ETC can’t.

That concludes today’s maple read!  Stay tuned.
